Grass diseases??

Question

Hi

For 2 years now my grass was like a bowling green, well nearly!

Since then it’s went really really patchy and some of it even died.

We have had 2 dogs 1 female and 1 male for 20 years and it’s not urine marks, actually if you dig under a patch there is no soil, it just looks like sand?

We have a lot of fruit trees, conifers which I think may be the problem?

I’ve tried patching it with many many products over the 2 years and am reluctant to put turf down until I find out what the real problem is.

Can anyone advise at all?
