Q.Gardenia

Zone High Point, NC 27265 | Tonja Schiltz added on March 5, 2018 | Answered

My Aunts bushes have not been cut back in about 6 years and have gotten about 5-6 feet and scraggly. We need to cut them back but I have been afraid since it is March. Is it okay to do it and can I cut them back to about 3 feet or is that to much.

You can cut them back, but wait until mid summer after the blooms fade. This will keep you from harming any of next years flowering growth.
