Q.Fig tree

Zone 43130 | Joe McCrady added on May 1, 2017 | Answered

My fig tree was overwintered indoors. When I took it outside, most of the leaves turned white and are starting to fall off. What’s going on? I no longer have shade because our neighbor’s tree fell, and it was the only shade that we had.

This is probably a case of sunburn on your fig tree's leaves. The lack of shade is likely a contributing factor. Perhaps there is a way to provide temporary shade with a screen or lattice or by placing it right next to the house. Also, when moving a tree outdoors after the winter, it's important to move it outdoors gradually, placing it outdoors for a few hours at a time and increasing the time outdoors over the course of a week or so.
