Q.Elderberry bushes for medicinal purposes

Zone 5A/Southern New Hampshisre | Stevedette added on January 5, 2014 | Answered

I have two elderberry plants. – Common Elder and Sambucus Nigra.  I can use the flowers and berries for medicinal purposes. My question is if I harvest the flowers, will I have to sacrifice the berries in the fall?

Yes, if you harvest all the flowers, there will not be any berries to harvest later on. Perhaps you could designate one plant for flower harvest and another for berry harvest?
