Q.Elderberry branches dying

Zone Anamosa Iowa 52205 | Anonymous added on July 22, 2017 | Answered

We planted 4 elderberry bushes a year and a half ago. They have grown beautifully and until recently we have had no problems. In the last month we have seen some of the lower branches die on 2 of the bushes. There do not appear to be any bugs and nothing is being eaten. The remainder of the bushes appear healthy.

We live in the Midwest and our summer is quite hot and humid this year. I’m attaching a photo.

Do you have any suggestions for us?

Check the soil moisture level, during hot summers your plants will need more water.
