Eggplants fruit soft

I am very new to growing vegetables and thought all was going well until I noticed my eggplant fruit appeared wrinkled.

Eggplants with dull skin and wrinkled are likely over- ripe. They are still edible but likely bitter and would not taste very good.

Over- ripe fruit can be used to save seeds from.
