Q.do stem diseases from peppers spread to beans?

Zone 8 | mcjdjr added on June 6, 2012 | Answered

I have aphids and dying stems on my peppers. I know it says to get rid of them. But, they are in pots and I would like to move them to see if some of them can be saved. And does the disease always spread to the seed? I’ve had some of these for a long time. Would really like to save them!

The seeds should be fine. The stem damage may stop once you get the aphids under control and then they could be saved. Try using neem oil on the plants. It is very effective against aphids.

If the stem issue is disease related, the beans should be fine. They do not suffer from the same diseases as peppers. But, the aphids could spread. If you can, try to quarantine your pepper plants.
