Does Spritzing The Leaves On Your Purple Velvet Plants, With Water Make Them More Purple & Velvety?

I’ve been told if you spritz the leaves with water from a spray bottle the plant will get more purple velvet on the leaves. Is that true?

This makes them more susceptible to rot. Brighter light will cause more coloration.
