Clematis isn't known for being invasive, or harmful to structure or anything that it attaches to.

Pruning should occur after bloom drop. This article will help you to know when and how to prune clematis: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/vines/clematis/pruning-clematis-vines.htm
