Q.Do Sucker Rose Bushes Bloom?

Zone 92545 | Anonymous added on May 28, 2021 | Answered

We planted a sucker cane taken from my sister’s garden about 2 years ago. It has turned into a vigorous, leggy rose bush and it has never bloomed. Will we ever see it bloom? Thanks for your help.

Probably not. It sounds like it was a sucker that formed from the rootstock of the plant below the graft union. She likely had a rose that was grafted as many are.
