Q.Do I Have To Vernalize Verbena Seeds?
I am planning to grow verbena from seed indoors in a few months. I tried last year without success. I refridgerated some seeds for 2 weeks before planting in trays and none germinated. I then tried planting seeds in the trays and refridgerating the trays for 2 weeks and they still did not germinate. I would like to try again this winter. What should I do?

Many of the cultivars will require cold stratification. It can take up to a month to get the full stratification period, though. 2 weeks is a minimum for some varieties, but not all. I would do it for a month. It can also take about a month to see any germination, as long as the seedling don't stay too wet, or dry out. It is worth noting that the more fresh the seed, the better the germination rate.
