Q.Do Christmas Cactus Have Seed Pods

Anonymous added on January 11, 2014 | Answered

Does a Christmas cactus produce seed pods? If not, what are the red blobs after a bloom? I have a cactus that has a blob on it after last year’s bloom and now that it is finishing blooming, there are more blobs forming where there were flowers. Thanks, I really would like to know what they are.

It is a seed pod. This doesn't happen very often, but it can happen. You can remove them if you would like. Trying to propagate through seed is difficult and would be more worth your while to do so through cuttings instead. If you're interested in taking cuttings in the future, this article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/cacti-succulents/christmas-cactus/how-to-propagate-and-plant-christmas-cactus.htm
