Cut Monkey Grass in Fall?

Our monkey grass is well established and thick. Now, in an Alabama fall, it is getting brown and unattractive. We usually cut it in the spring, but couldn’t we cut it back in the fall of the year? It is so ugly with the brown growing out over the sidewalk.
