Cucumbers

Question

I planted Burpee bush cucumbers last year and I got some delicious cucumbers but many of them would bloom and start growing straight, but then the blossom end would not continue to develop and would just curl up, while the portion by the vine would develop normally. What could be causing this to happen to the fruit?
