Crapemyrtle tree

Question

Planted my tree in the fall last year. I pruned the brown Berries. So no berries grew. Branches grew, but no berries. I protected the tree from frost and cold with burlap. And mulch. I even fed the tree in the spring. It is end of July I live in zone 6-7. Everybody else crepes are in full bloom. I am so disappointed. Any words of wisdom. Thank you! Colorless in Pa.
