Q.crepe myrtles

I have four crepe myrtles in my front yard. They have been there for years. This year only the tops and about one third of the branches have leaves. The remaining part of the branches are smooth and unleaved. What should I do?

These are best pruned, annually. This article will help in replenishing these: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/crepe-myrtle/pruning-crepe-myrtle-trees.htm
