Control Of White Flies

Question

Do white flies stay in the garden over winter or does the frost kill the pest for this year? Since I have them this year, will this mean the problem will be exist in the next growing season? I pulled all of the garden early since the infestation was severe and the plants were not flourishing. But they have seemed to spread to other locations. I have read that no pesticide takes care of them. Is that true?
