Q.CONFEDERATE JASMINE

Zone 95823 9B | Karen Lawrence added on March 10, 2021 | Answered

My jasmine has been sitting in a 7-gallon pot since last spring…it has not grown since! It will develop new leaves but then they dry up and die!!! Do I need to downsize the pot, put plastic jugs in the bottom, give it to someone who knows what the heck they’re doing, and has a true green thumb?? I am soooo waiting to see the flowers and smell that scent…PLEASE HELP! Thank you Karen

That is quite a bit of extra space, and if the container does not allow all extra water to drain out, then this can cause fungal/bacterial issues. I do see a saucer, which is a good sign. Never let water sit in the saucer. It would be a good idea to make sure that the soil dries, thoroughly, down to about 3 inches before watering again.

These plants grow, extremely, slowly. Any attempts to speed the growth up may hinder the process. It is very important to maintain proper soil moisture, though.
