Q.Coffee Plant From Seed

Anonymous added on May 14, 2011 | Answered

What are the steps to grow a coffee arabica plant from one of its beans? Do I soak the bean first? Do I have to cut it in half before planting? How long does it take to sprout if it does germinate?

It is advisable to pre-germinate the seeds. First soak the coffee seeds in water for 24 hours, then sow the seeds in damp sand or wet vermiculite. As for germination, this can take anywhere from 2-3 months.
