clematis browning leaves

Question

my princess diana clematis in a pot comes up and blooms beautifully. then starting low the leaves begin to yellow with brown spots an then die. it continues up the plant. it did the same last year and i cut it all the way down. it came back and bloomed again and then repeat of yellow leaves. I sprayed it for fungus and bugs didn’t help. Any suggestions? Thanks
