Cherry Trees

Q.Cherry Tree Roots.

Our next door neighbour cut down a mature cherry tree 3 years ago. Ever since I’ve been pulling up little shoots all over my garden. Today I located some roots near the surface and would like to know if these are actually cherry roots? The picture of the roots is 10 metres from the tree stump.
