Ligustrum covered with Cercospora. About a dozen 5' high. I am considering using hedge trimmers to cut the growth containing this fungus then cleaning up the area under the plants before spraying with fungicide. Also fertilizing. Is this the right approach?

This can be a difficult fungus to treat, though the link below has some specific chemical treatment.
