Can you save a cactus piece that was completely broken off from the plant?

Sometimes, a cactus piece can be grafted back onto the main plant. If the wound has dried, cut a small slice off both the broken piece and the main stem, and then place the broken part back in place. Secure it with rubber bands or string:
