Caterpillar war!

Question

Where do caterpillars hide? I’ve only seen one in my garden, but signs say there are more. Should I till around my young bean planta? I think the caterpillars may have come in with the bagged saw dusty mulch I added after the beans were above ground.

The are not in the soil, rather moving around plants eating plants.
