Q.Care for bare root trees over winter

I ordered trees from an online nursery with several bare root dormant trees, how can I care for these plants during the winter months to plant in the spring. Winter is approaching!

I would plant them in a temporary container for the year, and keep them in a garage or somewhere where they will not be affected by cold. If this is not possible, then at least plant them in container and wrap with burlap.
