Q.Cannova Canna Lily will not Bloom – Blocked by dead buds
Hello,
I’m hoping you can help me. Our flowers outside where I work (small business) were, unfortunately, not watered for 4 days in a row. As a result, the little buds on several of our Canna Lilies had died. Now these stalks will not bloom, and the small dead petals that would have turned into flowers are fixed in place atop the little green seed pods. I’ve tried to pull them off, but the plant doesn’t want to easily give them up. When I force away the little dead leaves, a dead “inside part” atop the green pod remains. What should I do to get this plant blooming again? Does the entire green pod need to be cut off so the plant can grow new ones? I’m uploading two photos. In one picture, you can see a stalk of healthy blooms adjacent to a stalk of dead buds. It’s so sad.
Thanks so very much for your help.
