Q.Can Tomato bushes be fertilized with chemical fertilizer when they are bearing fruits

Anonymous added on May 19, 2017 | Answered

Hi there,I am not sure if it is ok to fertilize Tomato bushes with chemical fertilizer while they are fruits on it, cause I’m concerned that the fruits will be affected by the chemicals in the fertilizer and then they wouldn’t be edible anymore or maybe dangerous for human health,is it a valid concern or its just me being paranoid about it,thanks

Fertilizing the soil AROUND the plant (about 6 inches away) with any chemical fertilizer won't harm the fruit at all. This article may help you: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/tomato/tomato-fertilizer.htm
