Q.Can The Hard, Baked Soil Inside A Poly Tunnel Be Saved Or Should It Be Dug Up And Replaced With Fresh?
A poly tunnel at the school I work at has been unused for several years. The doors have remained closed and nothing has been done to it for at least 4 maybe 6 years. The soil is extremely hard, having been baked for all those years. Can I simply re-hydrate it, fertilise and plant or should the soil be dug out and replaced?

You may not need to replace all of it. Add some compost and other amendments to recondition the soil. Here is more:
