Q.Can The Hard, Baked Soil Inside A Poly Tunnel Be Saved Or Should It Be Dug Up And Replaced With Fresh?

Zone Banbury, Oxfordshire | Anonymous added on June 22, 2023 | Answered

A poly tunnel at the school I work at has been unused for several years. The doors have remained closed and nothing has been done to it for at least 4 maybe 6 years. The soil is extremely hard, having been baked for all those years. Can I simply re-hydrate it, fertilise and plant or should the soil be dug out and replaced?
