reusing soil from rotted cactus

Can soil where rotted cactus resided be used again or does it need treatment prior to re-use? Agave variegated rotted at the root and the leaves bend over.

I recommend disposing of the old potting mix and purchasing new material to use for the next plant.
You can compost the old soil.
