Q.Can Plastic Sheeting Touch Cactus Or Succulents For Several Days Without Harming?
Rain and wet weather getting more constant in California. Past few days with Hillary as well. El Nino coming this winter. Last year I used Tomato Stands to build cages around some cactus as those atmospheric rivers soaked us for weeks on end. I have even repotted with a soil mix 30% Organic and 70% Pumice or Perlite to further offset the rain and protect those roots. I have so many cactus & succulents though, it would be easier to wrap them as needed before the wet weather sets in with thin plastic sheets and remove after the weather passes. Airflow important of course. I had mushrooms growing and learned. Can Plastic Touch the Cactus Itself? My grower says no and I cannot find information as to why it cannot. Thank you

I would agree. You would not want it to touch and smother the cacti. a covered carport, or cover in general would be better.
