Q.Can Pickling Cucumbers Be Too Ripe To Pickle? How Would I Know If They Are?

My pickling cucumbers are greenish yellow and slightly gold. I had to go away for a week and my husband did not see the cucumbers on the vines. Can I pickle them or compost them?

Unless the cucumbers have become mushy, they make fine pickles even if they're a bit yellow. If they're soft, however, you'll want to compost them. This article has more detail about what to look for:
