Q.Can I Prune Jasminum Officinale In Summer?

Zone London, England | Anonymous added on July 3, 2021 | Answered

My jasmine is growing fast on a 6 foot trellis which covers a fence bordering my neighbours property. I know it’s supposed to be pruned annually, but it’s growing so fast it’s getting messy, trailing everywhere – it’s finished it’s first flowering, can i just prune hard now?

As long as you don't prune them all the way down, it will be fine. They bloom from old growth, so leave plenty of old wood if you wish to have flowers next summer.
