Can I Prune Gardenias Now?

This winter was so cold that my gardenias are all brown now. I live in VA Beach. Can I prune them now?

While it is typically recommended to prune gardenias after they bloom, it is permissible to do so after they suffer cold or frost damage, which seems to be the case with yours.
