Q.Can I Over Plant A Border To Drive The Bindweed Out Or Will The Bindweed Win And Kill All My Cottage Plants ?
We moved into an old 1700’s cottage in November. The garden was a mess so we levelled it off, cleared the nettles & then covered it in weed suppressing membrane. In February I started planting my cottage garden. My borders are full of roses, lavender, lupins, verbena and an old olive tree that was previously in a pot. I am now regretting filling my garden with these lovely plants as every day I am pulling out bind weed ( should I have sprayed it with glyphosate last November when we moved in ? ) Am I fighting a losing battle ? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

If you can't get the good plants out of the area, temporarily, to kill off the weed, then this may be a difficult task to complete. Hand pulling and catching them before flowers form, while using an herbicide will be best.
If you can get all of the plants our of the area, then you can solarize the soil. This article will help:
