Q.Camellia Has Black Moldy Leaves with Bugs Underneath

Anonymous added on March 19, 2014 | Answered

My camellia shrub has black moldy leaves with yellowish flat bugs underneath. I have sprayed them but with little effect. Please advise or do I just dig it up and get rid? Thank you.

The black mold is sooty mold and the result of the pest, which is likely scale. Neem oil can treat both. These articles will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/scale-bug-how-to-control-plant-scale.htm, https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/problems/pests/neem-oil-uses.htm
