Camellia Plants

Q.Camellia Japonica

Anonymous added on April 26, 2011 | Answered

The camellia is in a very large tub which stands on bricks to allow air underneath. It was in bud just after Christmas and while we had the snow and frosts, it was situated up on decking (south facing). It has produced many blooms but these last ten days, the new buds are browning on the tips and then just dropping off. Also, the leaves are mottled with brown stains and are falling. Is this normal?

Did you fertilize it lately? These can be signs of over fertilization. It may also be caused by under-watering. Make sure the plant is getting enough water.
