Q.Cauliflower Head Came Up Brown

Anonymous added on March 12, 2011 | Answered

For ten years I have had success growing all kinds of vegetables, except cauliflower. The head came up with a brown color instead of white. Also,  I have had fig trees (this year makes three) with little growth and no fruit. They are more like bushes. Some tips for these problems would be great.

You may want to look into blanching your cauliflower heads. Brown cauliflower heads typically mean that the heads are too old. But what may be happening in your case is that the cauliflower does not look white and you are not aware that it needs to be harvested. Blanching may help.

Fig trees do not fruit typically until their 3rd year and up to their 5th year, so you may see fruit this year.
