Cabbage

Question

Hellow I am growing a cabbage but something is eating holes in the leafs. I am finding little green caterpillars, and I can see eggs every once in a while, (I wash them away with the hose), I pick the caterpillars off, what can I spray it with that isn’t harmful to humans? Some one told me diluted dish soap but Im afraid, my grandson gave me the plant and he is helping me grow it. Sometimes I see a big white butterfly landing on it too, is this the guy laying these eggs?
