Q.Brown Dry Leaves

Anonymous added on May 23, 2011 | Answered

I have a gardenia plant and another medium size plant.  I water them once a week till water gets out from the bottom, then I throw excess water out. My problem is the plants’ leaf tips turn brown and then dry. For the gardenia, it’s almost all leaves that have fallen. What is the problem? I give them fertilizer every week (liquid 7 ml fertilizer for every 1 liter of water).

You may be over or under watering, depending on your conditions. Instead of watering on a schedule, with a set amount, water when the soil on top just gets dry (you should be able to scrape the soil a bit and find damp soil beneath), then water the plant until water comes out the bottom.
