Q.Broken Stem
Hello, I have my first orchid which was a gift and I love it; it has two stems and one of the stems partially broke about two inches from the last petal. I tried to “split” it and tape it; but it did not work and those petals are dying. I need to cut the stem off right? And if I do, will new flowers on that stem grow? The other stem to this plant is beautiful. Thanks for your help.

You only need to remove the stem if it is brown or turning soft. Then cut it to 2 inches above the soil. If it's still green, it may bloom again. In that case, you will cut it below the fading petals to the first node. They look green in the photos.
