Mango Trees

Branches Growing From Beneath Soil

cblissett1 added on March 11, 2016 | Answered

I planted an East Indian mango tree 2 years ago. There are several branches growing and flowering around the trunk of the trees. Should these branches be removed. Also, will they prevent the trunk from maturing or growing in size? Thank you in advance for advice.

Yes, remove the sucker growths as soon as you see them growing.
They are likely growing from the root stock and can take energy from the tree.
