Q.borer holes in my plum tree

Zone central Victoria | elysianflat added on September 15, 2014 | Answered

What do you recommend to “plug” up holes made by borers in my plum tree? I have cleaned out the holes & sprayed the tree but want to fill the holes in so no other pests or rain will enter the tree.

Arborists no longer recommend plugging holes in trees, or painting wounds with sealants. You can, however, do what is called "clean cutting." This article will tell you more: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/tgen/repairing-tree-bark-damage.htm
