Black (mould ? ) On Eucalyptus Tree

Question

Hi there, I have a gum tree – unsure of variety, that has a sooty black covering of many of the brances and on parts of the leaves. Particularly concentrated around the smaller branches. Thje tree is about 10m tall. Any ideas on what I can do ? See images attached

If it's sooty mold, it could mean an insect invasion, so check for that. I may see cankers, too. These articles should help:
