Black fungus on my new jalapeno plants

Question

My pepper plants have a black fungus on new plants now just putting out some flowers but look horrible because of this black stuff. I know it will kill the plants but can I salvage my desperate plants to make it. and also what do I need to do to the soil for next time if they don’t live.
