Bird of Paradise plant

Question

I have a nice Bird of Paradise plant and I’d like to give 3 flowers as a bouquet to a friend. How (where on the plant stem is the right way to do this so that the stalks will grow back?

Cut the Bird's from the plant with a clean sharp knife. Make the cut down at the base of the plant.
