best way to save elderberry plants

Question

found some sad looking elderberry bushes on clearance at the local HEB (grocery store in Texas). decided to take my chances as they were $2 a piece. Problem is, I have no prior knowledge on growing elderberries! Any tips and info would be greatly appreciated. Excuse the messy patio garden in the background.
