Q.Bell Pepper Problems

Anonymous added on May 11, 2014 | Answered

We are near the Rio Grande and our soil is sandy. It is often very windy also. I planted six 4″ bell peppers three days ago. A couple of them are showing white areas on top of the leaves. What is the proper way to water these young plants?

The white areas are sunscald. This is caused when seedlings are not properly acclimated. This article will help you with acclimating them in the future: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/seeds/how-to-harden-off-your-seedlings.htm For the first week or two, water daily. Then after that, they need 2-4 inches of water a week.
