Q.Beautiful Gardenia

Anonymous added on October 10, 2011 | Answered

I just bought a fairly young gardenia bush in Gainesville, FL. It is still in the pot I bought it in. It is sitting outside on the northwest side of my backyard. Can I keep it in a larger container instead of planting it in the ground, and how large a container will I need to keep it comfortable and viable as a flowering specimen?

Yes, you can grow your gardenia in a container. It doesn't have to be much larger than the one it's already in, maybe go up another size or two. Here is an article on caring for gardenias that you may find helpful: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/gardenia/gardenia-plant.htm
