Q.Azalea pruning
I pruned my azaleas last spring after they bloomed. This year the plants have extremely long bare stems that grow in clusters off the main stem. Picture is attached. Now I am unsure how to prune those or why it happened. Hoping for some advice.

This just happens sometimes, when lower growth gets shaded. You can prune these off, as they will remain unsightly. This article will give you more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/azalea/pruning-azaleas.htm
