Asparagus – How Important Is Rust Resistance ?

I am about to buy asparagus crowns 1 year old. I like the purple variety for the extra nutrients, yet the Erasmus offered in the catalogue is not rust resistant. The green Millennium brand is rust resistance. How important is getting the resistant brand in Maryland near Baltimore ? This will be the first time I am adding asparagus to the garden. Thank you
